Guide? Tourist Guide? Hiking Guide, Nature Guide, etc ... Everyone asks the question ... Who are these people a kind and character a little different?
Tourist Guides are the first ambassadors of a vital sector for the economic development of Wallonia. They are also a guarantee for a tourist guidance based on quality, a warm and attentive, knowledge of the richness of our cultural, historical and natural, the ability to speak in the language of tourists.
Tourist Guides adhere to a Code of Ethics specifying the obligations in terms of reception, communication, training, confidentiality and business ethics.
The General Commission for Tourism Wallonia (CGT) recognizes/certifies the quality of Tourist Guide to any person providing the comment and the discovery of a heritage and identifying with one of the six categories listed below:
- Companion Guide to HikingGuide Accompagnateur en Randonnée
- Nature-Adventure Guide
- Speaker Guide
- Regional Guide
- Local or Thematic Guide
- Grand Touring Guide
To be recognized as "Companion Hiking Guide", those interested must have training recognized by the Wallonia-Brussels Federation. These courses are delivered in part by the CFAR (Centre de Formation des Accompagnateurs en Randonnée) and by the CAB (Club Alpin Belge).
To be recognized as "Nature-Adventure Guide" interested persons must be certified in teaching in hiking, mountaineering or climbing. These courses are delivered by the CAB.
The CFAR training is training a diploma Head Corporate and providing access, subject to conditions, recognition of Tourist Information. The CAB Training gives access to the equivalence of French Mountain Guide Companion.
